Fun Facts About Rapid Brands

Chris Johnson developed the Rapid Ramen Cooker and pitched his new product on "Shark Tank" in 2012. He ended up with a business partnership deal with investor Mark Cuban for a $150,000 loan and 15% stake in the company.

I'm a huge fan of the show Shark Tank. I try to catch all the new episodes whenever I get a chance. And I've been known to binge watch their shows when they run those daily marathon episodes.

There's just something quite intriguing about watching ordinary people come up with an idea, take action, and then end up living the American dream as a wealthy entrepreneur. As an business owner myself, I can definitely relate. I even put together a mini guide on creating a popcorn business.

Johnson and his Rapid Brands products have been featured on numerous television channels and programs. Some of the most recognizable outlets include Good Morning America, CNN, abc, BuzzFeed, and Shark Tank.

Let's get back on track, shall we?

Since producing the Rapid Ramen Cooker, Rapid Brands has developed over 15 microwave cooking products. Their lineup includes cookers to specifically cook items such as eggs, rice, oatmeal, cakes, brownies, and of course popcorn.

About The Rapid Brands Microwave Popcorn Popper

The first thing that I noticed about this popcorn popper is that it is collapsible. I freaking love this feature! It's a great space saver.

It's silicone, constructed using high-grade polypropylene. It's durable and heat-resistant, allowing it to be microwaveable and dishwasher safe. And, it is BPA free.

The lid prevents bursting popcorn and oil from splattering all over your lustrous microwave. Just one less mess to worry about cleaning.

Enjoy snacking straight out of the same bowl that you cooked it in. No worries about having to wash extra bowls and plates, aside from the Rapid Brands popcorn popper that doubles as a serving bowl.

Gotta love convenience, am I right?

Microwave Cooking Directions

Pour kernels up to the fill line in the bottom of the bowl.

It appears that there are actually 2 fill lines in the bowl...?

So I ran 2 separate tests to see what would happen.

• For the first test, I added about a quarter cup of yellow kernels.
• The second test, I used half a cup of white kernels.

No real rhyme or reason for using the two different types of kernels, other than just curiosity within the experiment.

Here are the results...

I poured yellow popcorn kernels up to the lowest fill line, which seemed to be about a 1/4 cup of kernels.

Placed the lid and popped it in the microwave for 3 minutes. I stopped it just a few seconds prior to the 3 minute mark.

This is the result... about half a bowl of beautifully popped kernels.

For the second batch, I poured white kernels up to the second fill line. This was equivalent to 1/2 a cup of kernels.

I replaced the lid in the bowl and microwaved it for 3 full minutes.

And this was the result... amazing popped popcorn just over flowing with deliciousness.

Unpopped kernels? In both instances, I poured the popcorn into another bowl. And to my surprise, I did not see one kernel that had not been popped. So, that's definitely positive.

The only negative aspect was that there were a few burnt popcorn pieces with the first batch. But, I account that to my own neglect of leaving it in the microwave a little bit longer than necessary. Oops, my bad!

Warning: Although it is heat-resistant, I would still use caution when removing the bowl from the microwave right away. It will be quite warm and steamy. Just like almost everything else, allow it to cool prior to handling it.

Easy Cleaning and Storage

After each use, just wash the bowl and lid with a simple solution of mild soap and warm water. That's really all that should be required.

It is dishwater safe, as well.

So, in any event, clean it whichever way is easier and most convenient for you.

After the bowl and lid are completely dry, collapse the bowl, reinsert the lid into the bowl, then put it away until next time. I only felt the need to address that it should be dry just so that we all are aware that it could possibly attract mold if it was put away wet.

Where To Buy & How Much Do They Cost?

I actually came across this Rapid Brands microwave popcorn popper at one of my local retail shopping stores. I was just cruising down an aisle as I was shopping and spotted this on the shelf. There where a couple other different kinds of popcorn poppers right next to it. I also purchased those, and will be reviewing them as well.

When I was checking out, the cashier said that she and her family also have this same popper. She elaborated to say that she absolutely loves using it. Now that I've had the chance to use it a couple times, I definitely agree with her.

So yes, I do recommend this product.

At the time of this review, these usually cost just around under $10. Pretty inexpensive, huh? They can be found at many local shopping stores, and through online retailers such as Amazon.

There are other brands that produce similar looking microwaveable popcorn popping bowls, but those generally are priced higher for whatever reasons.

Personally, I'm thinking about purchasing a few more of these. Just so that my family and I can all have our very own bowls during our netflix and chill movie nights.

These also make for cool little gifts around the holidays or other special occasions. Perfect for dorm room college students, the office, or just a quick snack at home.
